The Jofa helmet originated from the Swedish company Jonssons Fabriker (founded in 1926 in Malung, Sweden). 
The “JOFA” name is like “CUJO” “Curtis Joseph.” 

Wayne Gretzky popularized the JOFA helmet brand while style with Edmonton Oilers of WHA (World Hockey Association) before Edmonton was absorbed into NHL during the merger in 1979.
